About the Firm
At Milam & Associates, PLLC, we value the strong relationships and high level of trust we have with our clients. Through commitment to serving and even anticipating our clients’ needs, we have successfully and continuously built upon our clients’ confidence. For instance, we have maintained many client relationships well over ten and fifteen years and some over 25 years. We are also happy to have “found” new clients each year and look forward to helping all who come through our doors. It is not uncommon that our clients continue to retain our services even after they have moved out of Oklahoma. We believe this is due to our straight-forward and helpful approach which is the essence of providing service to our clients.
The firm of Milam & Associates, PLLC is committed to our profession through individual involvement. Steve is a past-president of the Tulsa Chapter of CPAs, an organization of over 900 members and has served as chairman and member of several committees. He has served four years as chairman of the Accounting Careers Committee of the Oklahoma Society of CPAs where he is active in enlightening high school and college students about the profession of CPAs and the opportunities available in the field of accounting. He is also on the Board of Directors for the Oklahoma Society of CPAs and is a past officer in the Tulsa Estate Planning Forum.
While continuing education is a requirement of all CPAs, we routinely substantially exceed the minimum number of forty hours. We believe that attendance at a variety of seminars and conferences is necessary to stay current with the many changes that affect our clients. Our coursework includes income tax law changes, estate and trust taxes, financial accounting standards, and ethics, among others.
Involvement with the community has also been important to our firm with a history of serving on the City of Tulsa Third Penny Sales Tax Overview Committee, several terms as President of the Southeast Tulsa Homeowners’ Association, and numerous other activities. Public speaking has been provided to the community on a variety of topics such as recent presentations on retirement planning, tax law updates, estate planning, financial statement evaluation, and Oklahoma business incentives.
